Thermal Recycling of Glass Fibre Composites: A Circular Economy Approach

چکیده
Composite materials are used in a wide range of applications, but due to their inherent nature heterogeneity, particularly for thermoset-based polymer composites, recycling is problem, and life cycle management remains one, too. This study applies circular economy approach the problem excess waste glass fibre (GF) composites seeks solution by testing methodology thermal GF combining different times temperatures. Through by-hand lay-up process, diverse laminates were manufactured with recycled GF, mechanical results compared those control laminate; this way, we sought reinsert fibres into new cycle, closing loop material. The static properties, tensile tests, three-point bending (3PB) tests studied as well viscoelastic behaviour respective laminates. For woven fibres, highlight process at 600 °C 15 min, which revealed loss only 15.3% strength. 400 180 min presented reduction 52.14% 33.98% flexural strength, respectively, representing best solution. all laminates, stress, stiffness, strain sensitive rate, tendency observed these properties can be supported linear models. Subsequently, results, stress–relaxation creep analysed, it possible conclude that temperature time influence response

Glass Fibre Strength—A Review with Relation to Composite Recycling
The recovery and reuse of glass fibres from manufacturing waste and end-of-life composites in an environmentally-friendly, cost-effective manner is one of the most important challenges facing the thermosetting polymer composites industry. A number of processes for recycling fibres from such materials are available or under development. However, nearly all options deliver recycled glass fibres t...
متن کاملCharacterization of Glass Fibre – Coconut Coir– Human Hair Hybrid Composites
A composite material is a combination of two or more materials arranged in the form of layer one on the other layer using binding material through some prescribed methods. In the Glass fibre coconut fibre human hair hybrid composite method, the epoxy resin is used as binding material, in which one layer is formed of glass fibre, followed by coconut fibre and then by human hair. By using hand la...
متن کاملThe EU Circular Economy and Its Relevance to Metal Recycling
This paper provides an overview of ongoing European policy actions to improve the circular management of non-ferrous metals. After explaining why metals are at the center of the European Union’s circular economy initiative, the authors outline a number of issues that still need tackling to “close the loop”, and prevent Europe’s metals from being landfilled, incinerated, or exported without guar...

Oligomer Coupling Agents in Phosphate Based Glass Fibre/PLA Composites P Haque, AJ Parsons, I Ahmed, DJ Irvine, GS Walker, CD Rudd (Univ of Nottingham) Polylactic acid oligomers as coupling agents have showed potentially higher interfacial shear strength in phosphate based glass fibre/ PLA composites. To influence bonding on the glass fibre surface, the short chain PLA with different end groups...
متن کاملShear Strength Characteristics in Aged Polyester-glass Fibre Composites
Researches on the effects produced by the sun light upon polymeric matrix composites have been increased on the last ten years. It is commonly to find literature about mechanical characteristics degradation due to different environment effects. But a few ones are related to the shear behaviour. Moreover a limited studies are related to glass fibre polyester, even that are the composites most co...
